2 May 2010: Hi to all members past and new.
Another season of classic racing is almost upon us.
Fujitsu Heat Pumps have generously agreed to continue their sponsorship of our series for another season for which I am very grateful to Colin Bary for securing this support once again. Fujitsu’s assistance allows us to have a corporate suite at each round for you and your supporters to enjoy and for us to supply lunch to ensure that you are out of the cold and have a chance to get to know each other better. They also enable us to provide class and overall trophies for the top three placed competitors in each category and to subsidise your entry costs for some ‘away’ circuits.
This year I will be diligently ensuring that all competing cars have a Fujitsu Heat Pumps windscreen banner. Please do not show up on race day without one or you will not be racing with us. Banners are available from me by request for those of you who have not got one or need a replacement. Simply email me as above or phone me on 06 877 0447 (evenings) or text me on 021 913 006 and I will send you one.
Our race season commences next month and the championship runs for four rounds this year, all at Manfeild.
Confirmed championship race dates are:
Manfeild Sunday 6th June 2010
Manfeild Sunday 4th July 2010
Manfeild Sunday 8th August 2010
Manfeild Sunday 5th September 2010
The only race date Taupo can offer us is 8th & 9th January 2011, a national race weekend, which I have tentatively accepted. This will not be part of our championship but a great opportunity to showcase our series and sponsor while racing at a top circuit in summer weather so please try to plan to be there. I can also promise you some after racing evening enjoyment at this event.
I have been talking to Hampton Downs as I am sure many of you would like a chance to race there. Currently I am still waiting to hear back from them but I hope to be able to offer you a race date or dates up there.
The rules and registration form for the series are available HERE. The rules have not changed from the previous year and neither has the series registration cost of $25, but please note that my address has changed if you are returning your registration with a cheque. Preferably use the direct credit facility and advise me by email when you register along with any changes to your contact details or race car.
I look forward to receiving registrations from those of you who wish to race with the series this year and hope that many of you will continue to support our classic race series as you have done in past years. Thank you to those of you who have already registered, your early support is appreciated.
Kind regards
Gordon

12 July 2010: We have been offered the chance to race at further events which will give us summer racing – hooray! The dates and meetings are as follows:
2/3 October 2010 IRC Race Series (2 day meeting) at Manfeild
7/8 January 2011 IRC Race Series (2 day meeting) at Taupo
4/5 February 2011 IRC Race Series (2 day meeting) at Manfeild
You will recall we raced at one round of the IRC series last summer and it is great to be invited back, especially for three rounds. This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase our sponsor, our series and our cars at the national summer series level. Also, if you think about it, we will race at the Winter series until September, then have the IRC meeting in October followed by the MG Classic (ex Whittakers) in November, then IRC January and February, MG Charity Classic March, Central Districts Classic April and we are virtually back to the Winter series again for next year and I am still working on an event at Hampton Downs! You’ve got to admit, this is exciting stuff, we have come of age and are now being invited to race in different series!! It must be the variety of cars, the quality of the cars, the great racing spectacle we provide, thanks to all of you.
Put these dates in your calendar now, right now, no excuses, be there, you’ll love it!!!
Seriously though, let me know if you want to race at these events as I can’t afford to say yes and not get the numbers.
I am rapt with these opportunities, regards
Gordon
